In order to meet new talents and to introduce Cupole to students, we offer student programs every year – our internship being one of them. Instead of us telling you what our Internship entails, we’ve interviewed Vendela, who was our intern early spring 2020. Vendela studies her master at Stockholm School of Economics and was splitting her time between master studies and working as a management consultant at Cupole during two months’ time. To get a better understanding of the internship experience at Cupole we asked Vendela to answer a few questions.
How would you describe your time at Cupole?
The time I had at Cupole convinced me that consulting is what I want to do when I graduate. I had so much fun and experienced a steep learning curve. My project manager continuously challenged me with different tasks and I felt like I was involved in the project on multiple levels, which gave me great insight in what it is like to work as a management consultant and how the role will progress as you become a more experienced.
What did you do during the internship?
Well, I didn’t even enter the office until I was on a flight to Norway with my project manager. With that said, I was part of my first project team and was introduced to Cupole clients from day one. The second project I was involved in was a strategy project where we were based at the Cupole office in Stockholm. I worked side by side with the consultants in my team and I really got the chance to get to know the people of Cupole, even the colleagues that were not a part of my team.
Why did you apply for the internship at Cupole?
Most of all I was curious to find out if consulting was something I wanted to work with. Additionally, I was part of a student program at Cupole two years ago and felt that Cupole offered both a professional and genuine environment with an extensive focus on the individuals’ interests, which motivated me to apply for the internship at Cupole.
Did the internship experience meet your expectations?
No doubt about that! The internship program felt tailored to meet the my specific interests and really showed me what consulting is about on a higher level. I experienced a lot of “learning by doing” in client projects, but I was also offered trainings in excel and PowerPoint. Apart from that I had time to just hang out with the people at Cupole. This made a perfect mix of experiences if you ask me.
Would you recommend other students to do an internship with Cupole?
I would definitely recommend students to do an internship with Cupole! I believe an internship is the best way to find out what consulting is all about. I also got several hands on tips to use in my future career and valuable personal feedback. A big plus is that you can keep up with the studies meanwhile doing the internship. Last but not least, all the Friday breakfasts and time to hang out with the Cupoleans is a great pleasure.
