This is Lukas
At Cupole, we’re a collective of great minds and big hearts. But instead of keeping that for ourselves, we want to give you a chance to read some more about our people and what they have to say about themselves and Cupole. Cupole Academy started this fall and Lukas is one of the new Cupoleans who joined us.
Let’s get to know him!
Hi, Lukas! How would you describe yourself?
This is the most difficult to answer short and concise! To simplify – I am an ex footballer who began seeking the same sort of adrenalin kicks and affinity I had from playing football. For me, this meant to perform well during my time at university, while seeking challenges that I had to take on together with others in teams. This is one of the main reasons why I ended up in management consulting in general, and in particular, at Cupole.
Nowadays during my spare time, I ride my racer bike together with friends instead of playing football, and it is actually more of a team sport than one might think at first glance!
What made you apply to Cupole Academy in the first place?
The people that I met from Cupole! I believe the culture is a result of the people working here. Hence, I appreciated that everyone at Cupole showed both intellectual excellence, but even more that everyone showed that they care about each other and about the workplace. It is difficult to describe in written text, but when you get to visit the office, it is obvious what it means.
What are you looking forward to when starting at Cupole?
During my five years of studying I have been focusing on reaching this point. Now I am here, and I am eager to achieve new long term goals! These goals are of varying kinds, but entails growing as a person and professionally concurrently. High up on the list of my long-term goals is leading my first project, from formulating the problem statement to delivering a solution to the client.
(Did you do anything fun this summer?)
Yes, I did indeed! My parents just got access to their apartment they bought in southern Spain. On their wish list was to get one of their cars from Sweden down to Spain, so who would I be to miss that opportunity? Me and three friends, with more luggage than the relative small car could carry, set of from Gothenburg in the middle July and visited places such as Champagne, Avignon, Montpellier, and Cadaques to name a few on our way to Andalusia! Of course affected by the ongoing pandemic, but with a few covid tests and common sense we were still able to enjoy ourselves without getting sick!)
Finally, what is your advice to anyone that is interested in applying to Cupole Academy?
Start with yourself! Map your strengths and improvement areas, decide if you want to begin your career in management consulting. Then (because who does not want to work as a management consultant?) you can start to map how your favorite firm within management consulting should look like. What should the values of the firm be, what kind of projects does the firm conduct, do you want to work at a big or small company, etc.. If you find Cupole to be a great match, you will find it much easier to tell your story, and in the end, get an offer!
